Inclusive Design Guidance 2023

London Borough Tower Hamlets & Queen Mary University of London. 2024 Collaboration with Prof. Alison Blunt, Prof. Alastair Owen, & Dr Elsa Notterman. Funded by QMUL engagement fund & LBTH.

The Gender Inclusive Design Framework sought to put into practice what had been learned through the gathering and synthesis of the gender inclusive design evidence base, ‘This Is For The Majority’, written for Tower Hamlets and published in May 2024.
The design framework set out a clear set of approaches for the implementation and design of gender equitable spaces led by input from over 500 women and girls.

The design framework was co-designed with community researchers and developed in collaboration with the team from QMUL. We hosted a series of workshops and community researchers created walking journals. The analysis of this was used to set out a number of key themes to develop during a design charette held at the town hall.
