What: Solo exhibition produced as part of ‘Art Share’
Curator: Bryony Dawkes, 2011
Art Share is a scheme that supports artists to explore and work with museum archives. Working at The National Museum of Wales I stumbled upon a little known illustrator, TH Thomas who had been a founder of the museum. He was the son of a methodist and a friend to Charles Darwin. Through his illustrations he shows us a record of a mythical world at the birth of modernism. He took the grand tour of Europe, travelled to America and had a love of geology. Through his eyes we see the seeds of the new world we now live in.
The installation at Oriel Davies exhibited Thomas work and took viewers on a journey through the back rooms of the museum and out into an existential space newly unterthered from a world order.
