“Jennie led a highly consultative placemaking and spatial design exercise for Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole, producing a compelling and inspiring book – Future Stories: Tales from BCP Future Lab. With flair and conviction Jennie showed how we can reimagine our town centres, putting people and culture at their heart, and how we could put this into practice”. Micheal Spender, Head of Culture, BCP Council
Future Stories is a publication that reimagines what our urban town centres could be as we emerge back on to the high street.
The project was commissioned by the R3 consortium of Retail and Leisure and Future Stories is the result of an eight month research project which I led as Creative Director for Feria Urbanism.
The first half of the book expresses and explores the parameters of the principles which were identified through extensive public engagement.
The second half of the book show a number of designs (made in collaboration with the brilliant Kim Walker & Eleanor ORR ) which imagine how those principles might manifest.
In addition to the principles and designs I was able to commission a number of case studies to help readers imagine their practical application. (see contributors below)
