Sounding City

Role: Design Lead

Project: Social research leading to a live event and exhibition.

Commissioner: The Architecture Centre, Bristol, 2017

‘One starts with full consciousness of the abstract in order to arrive at the concrete’
Lefebvre, Rhythmanalysis

Sounding city sought to be as a tuning fork to the city. Capturing a sense of it through its reverb and pressing it as a musical map onto vinyl. Touring the city collecting stories and reflections from locals to create a book. The book was shared with musicians who made a single track in response to a collected narrative.

This musical map of the city is a double LP and soundcloud album.

Sounding City was commissioned by The Architecture Centre, Bristol.
