How do you deliver gender inclusive design? What does that look like in practice? And how can development managers, regeneration teams and the parks department embed gender and inclusion in their work?
The Gender Inclusive Design framework takes the evidence generated in ‘This is For The Majority’ and provides practical steps to delivering welcoming and inclusive places.
Methodology:
Working in collaboration with Queen Mary University of London to recruit and provide training for community researchers, who were employed to test the evidence and co-design a delivery framework. We worked with the community researchers over four months and used walking, journaling and a walking ‘ap’ to record their experiences of the borough.
The team analysed the findings and used what was learned to shape a design charette at the town hall. About fifty participants worked together to co-design the gender inclusive design framework
